My Gotcha Day Party 2005

What a Bash! Johann's Gotcha Day Party

September 3, 2005

Well it was a big bash! What a fun day! Games, Food, Fun, Good Smellin' Butts, and Great Friends.

Thanks to everyone for such a fun day. I appreciate all the cool gifts and great friendship. You guys and gals are the best. Let's do it again next year!

Here's what went down:

Mom and I got up at 4:30 AM. Things were very hectic and busy. I knew something was up the minute Mom gave me a bath. Then she turned on that loud thing that sucks up dirt -- I really don't like that thing. Does she have to do that on my big day!

When that was over, we were in and out of the house, setting stuff up. I helped of course. And when she set up the agility equipment, I made good use of it.

At about 9:30, Willow and her mom arrived. It was so good to see them, since it's been weeks. Willow is a great gal. Once we got calmed down, we ran and ran around the yard. I knew this was going to be a fun day the minute she started chasing me. I love it when my buds chase me.

Then at about 10:00 AM more and more buds started to arrive. What a blast! There were:

Willow and Mom Sherry

Shadow and Mom Mel

Louise & Demi and Mom Danielle

Maddie & Sydney and Mom Amy

Chyna & Fletch and Mom Jennifer

Finian & Squirt and Mom Shannon

Lenny & Emma and Mom Dawn

Mary Frances and Mom Tonya

We played around for a while, got our business done and then it was time for the dog painting. Mom showed Chyna how it's done, and they were all off, doing the Pollack thing.

Then it was time for the Mom's to eat, they were all hungry and had pizza, oh the smells. But, all us buds -- we're were so good and waited and waited. Then it was our turn. Out came my Gotcha Day Cake from Three Dog Bakery. Oh what a site (and smell!). I sneaked a quick taste in before everyone else. I think everyone really liked it -- it was peanut butter you know! A favorite for many of us!

My Dog Painting!

After that we did the hot dog dunk in the little pool. What a riot. Each bud had 30 seconds to eat as many hot dog pieces as they could. You should have seen Emma! She can really put it away, eating all 10 pieces in about 15 seconds. She's a lot bigger than most of us. I think that helps. She got a cool squeaky toy for her efforts. The other buds? Some got a few, some needed more practice, some weren't sure about the water. Then it was my turn. Oh the Gotcha Day Boy really did it in -- I ate 9 hot dog pieces in 30 seconds and I'm one third the size of Emma. Good enough for 2nd place! Love those hot dogs!

Then the Mom's had their cake. What an interesting looking cake, I think? Did they eat a puppy? Surely not!

Then it was time for the water relay. Each Mom/Dog team filled a small cup with water, ran to the finish line to fill a larger cup, and back again -- all with us on leash in the same hand. Not an easy task for some of us. We split up into two teams 'cause there wasn't enough space. Then we had two winners -- Emma and Sydney (I think -- may have to verify that). So we had to do a run off -- Louise and Demi's Mom said that Mom and I should be in the run off since I was the Gotcha Day Boy -- so we did. Guess what? We won -- I love to run and Mom keeps up with me pretty well. We're type A you know.

After that all us buds sat around and I opened my presents. Wow did I get presents! Here's a run down:

  • Maddie and Sydney gave me a Three Dog Bakery Ropey Buddy Plush, can't wait to get a hold of that one!

  • Finian and Squirt gave me a couple bones, tennis balls, treats and blue plush -- love it, love it, love it!

  • Shadow gave me a flannel tug (very cool), toy with squeaker and even gave Mom some homemade soup mixes - she liked it!

  • Emma and Lenny gave me a Three Dog Baker Grand Sampler and a bag of bagels, Yum! Yum!

  • Mary Frances gave me some very yummy treats, can't wait to dive into those!

  • Chyna and Fletch gave me a bag of Three Dog Bakery Bark N Fetch Biscuits (one of my favorites, how did they know?) and Mom got a cool picture frame to put a photo of "Moi" in.

  • Willow gave me a very cool (or should I say warm) red sweatshirt, a tug toy and gave Mom a cool photo frame for Moi, again. Can't wait to wear that sweatshirt this winter!

  • Demi and Louise gave me four plush's and four small tennis balls. Can't wait till Mom let's me check those out! But I think she may be saving some of them for after I tear up some of my current plush's.

  • After everyone left Mom, Wolfie and Wiggy gave me their presents, a very cool tug toy (I think they wants me to tug with a toy more, rather than them) a Merrick knuckle bone, a bandana, and my favorite training treats.

All in all it was a BASH! We all got along very well -- oh there were a few tiffs but nothing serious.

The party pretty much wound down after that, we were all pretty tired. I was beat! But still kind of wound up. Mom and I are both like that -- going and going and can't wind down. I helped her clean up and then we both collapsed on the couch.

Mom even let me sleep with her that night. I'm telling ya, this must be what they call doggie heaven.

Thank you all -- for the best day I've had my whole one year life!
